Calendaring heats up

Steven Sinofsky, check this out! (Steven is the guy who runs the Microsoft Office team and I believe is the highest ranking blogger currently at Microsoft).
I just was given access to an early version of 30 boxes and it’s going to be hot when it comes out. I have one word for my first trial: wow.
Thomas Hawk has the details. It’s beautiful. I wish Microsoft would buy this company and build this into Office Live and Windows Live.

Along this topic Scott Mace is doing a “Calendar Swamp” blog and is asking questions about the calendar that’ll come with Windows Vista. Steve Makofsky is blogging about the new Windows Calendar (those screen shots look awesome!) I’ll definitely follow up there with a video. I just subscribed to Calendar Swamp. Calendaring is joining mapping as an interesting space to watch.

    And there you have it: The reason there are sooo many M$FT bashers (and Scoble bashers) and disproportionate amount of M$FT criticism is the overriding theme of “let’s buy them/that”.

    How about innovating for a change, Mr. Scobleizer? Perhaps that’s a foreign concept to you and the rest of Gates, Inc.

    Spend less time and money on M&A (or, more specifically - “A”) and more on R&D and get out of your rut.

    If I had a penny for every time Scoble chanted “I wish Bill/Steve would buy” some new technology or company…I’d have a whole lotta pennies.

  28. Thanks for for giving Steve Sinofsky a little prod on this, Scoble. The MS calendaring scenario has been embarassingly broken for a long time. It doesn’t delight this customer to have it be so hard to share calendars outside of the Exchange environment. I can’t be the only one who is very frustrated that I can’t easily have my business-related committments in Outlook, and see a shared calendar with my family at the same time.

  44. I tried 30 Boxes earlier this week. The first thing I tried to schedule was a repeating meeting with an end date. Guess what? You can’t do that! You can have repeating meetings, but they repeat *forever*. Hello?? I do like the ease of sharing items with ‘buddies’, but there just seem to be many critical features missing.

  60. How about this new windows calendar? How does it look like? I have not seen it yet, but I have heard a lot about this calendar. I guess it comes with windows vista. I am using xp yet. So I cannot use it now. I planning to take the windows 7. I guess it has the cool calendar.
