Thank you Twitter!

Yesterday I wrote my 50,000th Tweet.

I have seen hundreds of new companies in the five years since Twitter came out (its birthday is today). None has affected my life as much as Twitter has.

Thank you Jack Dorsey. Thank you Ev Williams. Thank you Biz Stone. Thank you to the team of hundreds of Twitter employees.

We’ve had a rocky relationship, yes, but that’s the way it is when I spend so much time with one service.

Thank you for bringing me the world and changing my life.

I’m @scobleizer on Twitter and if you are a geek I want to follow you. Leave a comment here and explain how you are into tech.

UPDATE: I’m very honored that BBC says that I tweeted one of its favorite tweets and that FT says I’m one of the top five most influential Twitterers.

    Couldn’t agree more! Love it.

    Great video. Thanks.

I’m into Mobile Tech, primarily, and I focus on the offerings of HP’s webOS devices (like the TouchPad, Pre 3, Veer, etc…). I’ve been following you for a while now, and if at some point we had the opportunity to chat about the way that the tech world was going, I would be thrilled to hear what you have to say one-on-one.

    Cheers,
    @anotherguy

Hi Robert. I’m @paul_a_smith on Twitter.

I travelled the world using Twitter for my Twitchhiker project in March 2009. It’s fair to say Twitter changed my life forever. http://amzn.to/c0Rdzs

I’m also part of a bootstrapping start-up - together with my partner, we’re launching a new photo game app, @appysnap, in the next couple of weeks.

A doff of the cap to you and, of course, to Twitter :)

My whole life revolves around tech and I follow statups both in the US and Ghana(where you recently interviewed “nandimobile”) I follow your tweets since they make my work easy. :)

    Thanks!

Wow. 50,000 seems like a huge number. You’ve got to be in the top 95th percentile on the number of tweets you’ve sent.

So I’m trying to bootstrap a small company here in Raleigh that will eventually do some mobile stuff. I don’t have a ton of traction, but I’ve been at it a day at a time. If you’re interested in following, I’m @ericstroud.

Thanks for the great content Robert. I’ve been following your blog for about a year now and love hearing about all the cool things you and other people are doing (SRI blew my mind).

    Cheers,
    Eric

End of November, 2006. I was about the 13,000th person on the service.

  • http://twitter.com/sethdrobinson Seth Robinson

Robert, I have just switched careers from processor design to IT research. The things I’m looking into are pretty broad-mobile security, green IT, unified communications. I’ve enjoyed following you and getting your opinions. Hope I can return the favor.

    Happy 50k! I’m at 33k myself - if I didn’t delete so many, I might have hit 50 myself ;)

    As geeky as they get,

Twitter has become my number 1 resource for learning about various marketing concepts. Tweetups, following hashtags, online discussions, and following others in the industry are all great resources… all via Twitter.

I was hesitant at first. I guess I couldn’t wrap my head around the concept in 2006. I’m a web designer/developer with a warm place in my heart for Twitter. Thanks @scobleizer for keeping me current!

I’m @ivanmakarov. Haven’t met you in person yet, but I’m friends with Thomas Hawk and a fellow photographer working as a consultant in Silicon Valley during the day.

Hi, I am @petersmithca on twitter. I just found your blog recently, and being a huge gadget geek, I am now following you on twitter as well. I write my own blog, though I’ll admit its more because I’m a geek than for any expectation of viewership (and I won’t try to promote here). Whether you decide to follow me or not, I just want to say thanks for posting and keeping us up to date.

Congrats on the milestone! I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time, just followed you on Twitter. I’ve been involved with IT/Tech since the early 70s (I learned BASIC on an IBM 360 in 1968), I fought hard in the late 80s early 90s to bring computers and tech into the schools in VT. Spent the last 20 years as a Systems Administrator for 6 different organizations, as geeks go I’m an uber-geek. You can follow me at @vtblom on twitter

Hi Robert. I am a co-founder/lead developer of menuflavors.com. I also work fulltime for a tech company as a senior developer. We, menuflavors, have just pivoted from focusing on a restaurant menu directory to a mobile menu plugin that fixes restaurant’s websites to work correctly on mobile phones with just a small script installed on the restaurant’s server (although our site doesn’t reflect any of this, yet). We intend to market it directly to restaurants and through partners, such as, web hosting companies, developers, and industry consultants. You can follow me at @menuflavors
