iPod, Wired, and ah, this is news? (from: Kevin Briody)

Must have been a slow news day over at Wired. Microsoft employees using products that aren’t produced by Microsoft? GASP! SHOCK!

We’re a very open place to work, believe it or not. Using an iPod isn’t getting you fired from any group, to my knowledge. Nor is using Google to search, Firefox to browse, TypePad to blog, etc. I do them all, and it helps me understand my customers (college students) all the better. And yes, I enjoy using a lot of those products, which I use interchangeably with their Microsoft counterparts. It’s all good, not much controversy involved.

Just for kicks, some of my can’t live withouts on the technology front:

  • Tablet PC (Toshiba M200) - completely changed how I work
  • OneNote - combined with the Tablet, changed my work even more (and for the better)
  • iPod Mini, Silver with jogging arm strap - my constant companion. Hey, maybe Wired will write me up for admitting this!! woohoo!
  • Smartphone (Audiovox 5600) - I resisted this for a while, but now it’s like a sweet drug. I’m constantly getting in trouble by my wife for using it nonstop.
  • Picasa 2 photo management from Google - free, and so user friendly I would recommend it to anyone.
  • TypePad for blogging - I also use MSN Spaces, .TEXT, and all the MSFT goodness there too. But this blog is TypePad.
  • BlogJet for posting
  • Newsgator Outlook plugin for an aggregator
