My B.S. degree was in psychology and while I spend my life as a programmer, from time to time I find myself pondering psych related questions. I did a fair amount of coursework on things like attitude, emotion, motivation, as well as organizational behavior. All of that intro leads up to my thought at the moment…

Scoble is obviously a notable figure in the blogosphere. I find it interesting to read the comments folks leave about his posts. There are those who love him and those who seem to love to hate him. Interestingly the attitudes I hear expressed towards him seem pretty tightly coupled to one’s opinion of Microsoft in general. It leads me to wonder what kind of responses Scoble would get if he didn’t work for Microsoft. Obviously his posts would change somewhat as well but would the response of the blogosphere to his posts change as well? It would be an interesting exercise to survey his readers attitudes towards Microsoft and towards Scoble specifically and see over time how closely the two do or do not track together. Of course the same question could be asked about many corporate bloggers, I only pick on Scoble because I read him regularly and has a fair amount of notoriety.
