Man - today is turning into a day when I can connect many dots together.
I just got to conote capitalism in it’s pure state - with fascism. The underlying notion of exploiting workers and resources to create profit - is just sick to me. So when Jason Calacanis accused ME of improperly gaming the system - the only thing I could think of was “cause it’s hurting you - you mean?”
Any money going directly into blogger’s pockets is NOT going into YOUR pocket. It’s as almost as if he EXPECTS to make money - that it’s his right.
That just pisses me off to no ends.
Now I am going to answer Arnaudquestions about “why do I like structured blogging” and “whether OPML can be adapted to support Any type on MicroContent”.
Well dude- the second question is teh easiest and funnest. We did!
We used our OPML editor - weboutliner to craete an editor for a birthday party activity. Pure situated software.
It’s a perfect paradigm. More on that later.
Next - I LOVE PubSub’s structured blogging effort cause it’s just that - it’s an effort. When Seb Paquet first used the phrase - it blew my mind. I knew right away that that was exactly what micro-content needed - was a way to describe the controlled, form based kind of publishing that will move us down the pyrimid and effect 80% of the population within a few years.
Blogging is just the FIRST kind of micro-content and we’re watching lots of others get established - right in front of our eyes.
So structured blogging is the start of something I’ve been hoping for - for a while now - a way to give normal end-users the power to contribute, express themselves and share - little chunks of knowledge - that are heavily “typed”.
Kudos to Bob Wyman and the team at PubSub.
Arnaud admits that he doesn’t write much about the format of the published micro-content - but only a wholistic approach - which combines open:
- APIs
- Schemas
- data format
- even user interfaces
……will get us to micro-content nirvana.
When I think about this stuff - I see EVDB, RVW supported in blogware, an OpenListings format coming, OpenTopics and Technorati tags - for all, FOAF, ourmedia, Media RSS - everywhere I go - I see this stuff happening.
Just Yahoo buying Flickr, doing Media RSS and saying what they’ve been saying and THEN having Google come back with THEIR video hosting scenario. Man oh man.
It’s all happening.
