The story of Kaiser Permanente’s lawsuit against Elisa D. Cooper is rather complicated. I’m not exactly sure of the order of events. Cooper used to work for Kaiser Permanente and is rather upset that they fired her. It seems that Cooper discovered what should have been confidential patient data on Kaiser Permanente’s public Web site during a Google search and pointed it out to them. She eventually filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Now Kaiser Permanente is suing her to try to get her to stop posting information about it on her LiveJournal weblog, Corporate Ethics. She has many posts about the situation. The Health Care Blog also has information about it.
