What Debbie does verywell is prioritize her tips. Frankly if someone didn’t get to the end of herarticle (which is so short you’d have to wonder exactly ho ADD that person was)they would still get the most salient points: Be passionate, be consistent, beauthentic.
I mean really, aren’t thosethe highest level blogvalues?
Obviously I also agree with herthat you need to write properly (no matter how informal the tone) and that alsotrying to leverage your blog as a content management system and a search engineoptimization tools is a very good idea. I’m also glad she recommends adding yourown context, even when you’re just linking to a relevantarticle.
But as I will continue to say, despite all those claiming links are king, it begins and ends with content. target=”NewWindow” title=”http://homepage.mac.com/elisa_camahort/iblog/C788295036/E641419690/index.html”>I have said this vociferously, especially afterattending NewCommForum, where the “links come first” advice wasever-present.
That’s why I’mparticularly steamed that there’s some guy out there in blogland using me as
target=”NewWindow” title=”http://neopoleon.com/blog/posts/13268.aspx”>his lecture target about good content. (And see,I’ll give him the link, without some damn nofollow even though he doesn’tdeserve it.) And frankly I would have ignored the guy, except that’s harder todo when
target=”NewWindow” title=”http://robertscobleizer.com/linkblog/”>Scoble chooses to link to his off-base lecture.Gee, thanks. But what? No links tomyrantings about good content? And here I thought we were fellow SJSU alums andtherefore forever bonded
But Idigress.
Sorry, Debbie, thepoint of this post started out to be, and should wind up being, to praise yourseven tips as reasonable, well-prioritized, easy to understand…goodintro for the newbie. Well done.
