Not to let it go to waste I have decided to go through with the “so-so experiment” afterall.

I am not a named blogger. I do not work for a big fancy center-of-tech company. Nor have I been fired for blogging. I am just a guy with access to a weblog, there are lots of us out there. Heck I have had atleast four of these in various forms for a couple years.

I am, however, interested in the dynamic that runs through the web. Somewhere in there is Scoble. He is a hub on the net, his signal to noise ratio may leave something to be desired at times, but no real complaints here. Either way if he gets mentioned people follow around, either commenting pro-scoble or anti-scoble. So I wanted to know how much a mention (or two) would affect a new blog. This idea (while not new) has already been recently depreciated by LL’s search for blogolocity (it is a fun word) .

I do want to get a rough idea though, even if it may not be at full scoble-force. So here is how I did this (for sake of the experiment).

  • I registered this domain on Dec. 31st.
  • Popped a “hello world” post for the new year.
  • Made the andrew.litrod.com subdomain in February.
  • Made a few noisey posts for posterity.
  • Supposedly I have added this to Technorati, PubSub, Feedster, etc.
  • I have not had my friends link me yet (no passive click-thru)

So now I have a rough baseline (I didn’t want to start this until after a few days after I added myself to technorati, pubsub, etc. so if I randomly popped on a list somewhere I’d have an idea of that before starting this). So that is it. Pretty simple. I’ll attempt to keep anyone who is interested updated on the results. I think I might get a couple extra people coming to see it for a day or two, then fall back to a dead silence again. Maybe it will be a lasting effect, maybe no effect will result.
