The iRiver H10 Junior - iPod Shuffle killer? (from: Tim Marman)

Wow. 2GB, a relatively large color screen, and 60 hours of battery life? This is what the iPod Shuffle should have been (although it remains to be seen what the price will be).

Seriously, though, I don’t get the iPod Shuffle.

Before I bought her an iPod Mini, my girlfriend had a small RCA Lyra flash based player. It had 128MB built-in and an SD expansion slot. I used it for running a lot because my Archos Jukebox didn’t have the buffer to handle running. The thing is, she bought this 2 years ago for around $100 and added another 256MB for $30. It was tiny and had a (small) screen and built-in FM radio.

The new 6GB minis are nice, but I’m still holding out for the 10GB range. In the meantime, if I want a flash-sized player, I’ll just use my SMT5600. (Still waiting for the 1GB mini SDs to become available).

The iPod Shuffle is the perfect example of the strength of Apple’s brand … (See iProduct).
