What the Pluck? Another aggregator? (from: Blog Resource)

Pluck have released the latest version of their IE based news aggregator as well as a new online version that you can use from any browser. Unlike may other free online/desktop solutions the tow can actually be used together. Now, I’m not going to review this here, as I’m going to leave that up to you guys, and besides, I’ve only used the web version, and after 5 minutes I decided that Pluck sucks. You can get a toolbar bookmark top allow you to easily save/send web pages to pluck, however, the opml only import leaves something to be desired. For example, I have over hundreds of feeds. What if I just want to add 3 of them? There seems to be know easy way to just cop and past the url of the feed in and subscribe. But that’s not the least of my worries here.
What I am worried about is people who are new to blogging, and RSS. There are is now a multitude of online/offline rss aggregators all competing for your clicks, and I fear this may be overwhelming for new users. What we need now is to see developers move on to something else. I know blogs and RSS are “big” at the moment, but I can’t see there being that much profit to be made by bringing a product to the table so late.
Hey developers, how about not clawing for ever smaller pieces of the pie, and try getting the entire pie by coming up with the next big thing or killer app!
