4 Days at CES (from: Loren)

Evidently Kathie has owned a Tablet since they first came out, so like many of us she was eager to see what’s new with Tablets at CES.
There was quite a bit of Tablet stuff at CES: in the huge Microsoft booth, Toshiba booth, and Hitachi booth (Motion was there). Oh, and I can’t fotget Amtek and Tablet Kiosk too. And besides us walking around with Tablets, we saw some in the press room too. We also heard lots of comments from passer bys. (We jotted down about a dozen of them which I still need to post.)
But the article points out the one vendor that was silent on the Tablet-disappointingly so I agree:
“…when Ms. Sigler heads over to the booth of Hewlett-Packard, the company that makes the tablet PC she uses, a representative tells her that the company is no longer marketing the devices to consumers. It has none on display at the show.”
Yeah, we heard the same thing at the HP booth. We tried to persuade them what a missed opportunity this was, but noone was around that knew much. Lora and Layne kept trying different HP reps in the booth-I stood in the corner with muddled thoughts much like Kathie’s:
“”How do you expect these things to catch on if you don’t have them out where consumers can see them?”
Yep, the age old problem.
I hope though that HP is just trying to optimize its position in the market and will come back to realize how wonderful the TC1100 product is. It’s hybrid design is tops.
