Heheh, I never expected Chris to take my advice. I told him that he should take Gnomedex to a higher resolution. I guess his HDTV and Xbox 360 had an effect on me. Or maybe it was the pile of plasma porn at the CES show (by the way, HDTV manufacturers are already reporting hot hot hot TV sales lately, raising their profits and stock price).
Anyway, he just announced Gnomedex: A higher resolution.
So, what does “a higher resolution” mean? Well, it means your family room changes once it gets an HD screen. For the Web we’ll see WPF and Flash fight it out for “rich” experiences. For phones it means higher resolution screens which let you bring new experiences. For iPods it means video. For Windows users it means Windows Vista with its new experiences.
Hey, Chris, you should have the guy who developed Geometry Wars there. That guy is an awesome technologist (it’s one of the first games that takes advantage of all three cores on the Xbox 360).
From Gnomedex to blogher?
I really would like to attend Gnomedex which is on June 29th - July 1st and blogher which is July 28 and Saturday July 29. Assuming, that I am not the only woman who looks at both conferences and given the fact that Ponzi stated she wanted to do more …
Vloggercon will be in the summer this year, we don’t have the dates yet…
As far as HD goes, I’m holding-out for the 200″ screen.
Last year at CES it was the 80″ screen, this year the 103″, next year 148″, then in ’08 the 200″!

Hey Robert,
I think saying that Geometry Wars “takes advantage” of all 3 cores might be going a little far. Yeah, it uses all 3 (which surprised me considering it’s a relatively simple game) - but so do most of the launch games.
However, I doubt you’ll see any games that *couldn’t* have been done on 1 of those cores for a little while.
In fact, I think Fight Night Round 3 is one of the first games that begins to really show the system’s power.

For once, miracle of God that, I agree with Brandon. Games that hook into all 3 cores will be a long-way off, wait another 6 months to a year, about when the market and marketshare picks up. I know the next America’s Army, titled ‘Real Heroes’ (Ubi and SL doing console version), is supposed to kick on all cylinders.
Ubi is really all ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesified’ in prep for that movie release. Just look at a non-HDTV when coding, Ubi, geesh. 😉 Movie titles are burners, but TMNT is a good franchise, and they are doing Dragon’s Quest again. But the BIGGEST news from Ubi is John Clark’s retirement, Ding Chavez for 360 then? Also the Free Radical hook-up could prove interesting. ANd looking forward to ‘Faces of War’ and ‘GRAW’.
Now Secret Level, those guys are amazing, just hoping they kick ‘Real Heroes’ into more co-op arcadey, while still maintaining the feel of the American Army Sim.
