Going to SmugMug

I’m getting a tour of SmugMug today. I can’t wait, cause I keep hearing that this is a better place for photographers to put their work than Flickr. They were the first company to tell me about Amazon’s S3 service so it’ll be interesting to hear how that’s going for them.

Yesterday I visited Radar Networks, who showed me its Twine service. That rocked. Can’t wait to show you the video.

Robert, I look forward to your report. I’m using mostly iPhoto/.Mac and Picasa, however I’ve heard some good things about SmugMug.

SmugMug was started by the founders of FatBrain.com (aka Computer Literacy Bookstores) which was THE tech book place for geeks in Silicon Valley in the DotCom boom! We were the home of all the Silicon Valley corp bookstores (Cisco, Sun, Microsoft, Novell, etc) and the brick and morter stores were a great place to hang out and meet fellow geeks! Then MightyWords spun off for the eBook market! Chris and Don MacAskill were right there, shipping books from their garage at the beginning, then they brought a number of us in when the online piece started taking off!! If SmugMug has a similar feel to FatBrain at the start, they are in a really good place!! Go SMUGMUG!!
