All the rich people are off at TED this week, but all the cool geeks are really going to SXSW. If you’re really rich and a cool geek (some are so lucky!) then you’re probably flying your jet from TED to Austin on Saturday or Sunday and hanging out. I’m not cool or rich, but I’m going to SXSW anyway cause they put up with me there and don’t charge me $6,000.
But, what this means is I’m just snowed under with tons of ScobleShow videos, emails, BBQ’s to plan, and all that.
So, I’m just gonna shut down the blog until next Wednesday.
Don’t fret, there’s still plenty of Scoble all over the place. My video blog is active (new Photowalking session at SLAC coming soon, plus interview with Sharpcast). My link blog is up to date and I’ll keep posting the best stuff every day there. My Twitter page is hyper active (whew, what a firehose!)

This is my tenth visit, but this is my husband’s first. If you’re a Penn and Teller fan, you may want to catch his set, at the Elephant Room, on the 16th, 8pm. Mike’s the jazz musician who opens for them the first hour of their show, and he’s been a jazz pianist since he was four, so he’s got forty years of experience. He also has a great fan base. We’re getting strange fan mail lately, and with Tom Anderson’s MySpace stuff going on, we’re now getting more of it… There’s another Mike Jones, from Houston. He’s a young kid, rapper, with seven fewer albums under his belt.
We’re guessing there will be a lot of confused hip hop fans showing up, but they’ll probably stay because everyone from Ray Charles to Oscar Peterson has heard my white, tattoo’d, pierced, bald hubby, and are generally floored. (well, ray’s more than floored now.) I know I sound like “wife fan” thing, but I come from a very different back ground of Black Flag, and underground indie music…. never really listened to jazz until I was in grad school, and met Ravi Coltrane at Calarts, (he was a roommate). I asked him how long he had been playing a clarinet…so it tells you how dumb I was about it. Now my tastes are a bit wider, and I get that Kind of Blue is one of the best albums ever recorded.
Mike’s pretty amazing. I’ll be there from Tuesday on, so I’m hitting every thing from Emos to the alley, until Sunday. Mike’s just in Friday. I think I’m hitting Johnette’s set on Saturday. Anyone else?

Sorry I’m going to miss you in Austin, Robert. I’m headed to Belize for Spring Break. In any case, I grew up eating Salt Lick BBQ. Here is some advice:
1. Don’t eat the freaking bread, it takes up too much stomach space.
2. Go with the ribs, all you can eat. Don’t mess with the sausage, brisket, chicken, etc. Again, save the stomach space for the best stuff.
3. Eat a little beans, cole slaw, etc., for digestive purposes, but don’t over do it.
4. Forget the peach cobbler - ribs are a great dessert.
5. The traditional sauce rocks. Forget the rest. A Chinese Texan who is part of the Salt Lick family had something to do with the sauce recipe which, of course, is a secret.
Have fun.
