Windows Vista ships

I know a lot of people worked hard on this project. Congrats to all. That being said, I’m thinking adoption will be slow, and will be tightly coupled (there’s a phrase from my Software Engineering job) with hardware adoption. Not that it necessarily needs new hardware (although it helps), but just because it’s easier.

Thoughts?

That is exactly the approach we will be taking where I work - as we replace hardware starting next summer, we will begin slowly rolling out Vista.

I’ve been grappling with Vista since Beta 2. But you know, I installed RC1 on my dad’s computer, and he’s still using it now.

Yes, he complains that he prefers XP. But I remember when I put Windows XP on his Tiny, all those years ago, he complained that he preferred ME.

Anyway, if my dad can use RC1 (and he hasn’t complained about it in over 48 hours now), the final build must be worth the wait. I’ve had very little trouble with app compat, only the odd one like Nero 7 wouldn’t install (that’s fixed now). It’s definately prettier than Windows XP’s teletubbie chic, that I now hold in the same regard as Comic Sans. And, at last, there won’t be cause for concern about… less… experienced users installing obscure malware in pursuit of a free smiley, because you can give them a restricted account that doesn’t block access to absolutely everything.

How many hours do you reckon it’ll be before “WindowZ.ViSta.FINALRELEASE.BiZnisS.CracKed.torrent” appears on The Pirate Bay after the release?
