Neat story of a photographer who got photos into an exhibition because he posted his work to Flickr.

@Paul,
You’re not alone. iTunes stopped syncing ScobleShow for me too. It’s weird. The format of the videos is .mov on download-maybe that’s the problem? Do they need to be mp4?

How is using Flickr to demo what you can do, different from using Linked-in as place for your resume/recommendations?

Eh? He got in, because his photos were good, or just because he posted to Flickr? Any idiot can post to Flickr. Besides half those exhibitions are ‘poety contest’ scams, just a cull for a copyright-free photo library.
The film traditional Linhoff and Arca Swiss types are still the true art, and in fact such photos have increased in value to collectors.

Flickr’s great.
I sold a photo to be used on the cover of an Italian book.

Interesting — I hadn’t noticed before that WordPress changed my double-dash into an emdash and my straight quotes to smart ones. I don’t have a problem with that happening on comments, but I hope it doesn’t do it on normal posts.

*sigh* and if he were an offline friend too, I’d probably have spelled “Blakeley” correctly.
BTW — while my link above is work-safe, he’s also a burlesque dancer, and takes pictures of some of the shows he attends. Don’t wander too far if you’re at work…

One of my LJ friends, Chris Blakely, got some of his pictures up on the WA State Tourism site through his Flickr posts.

I really like Flickr as 1) easy online portfolio for friends and family 2) easy offsite storage (not “downsampled”) 3) easy “minimal click” photoprinting- less trouble then film!
The social networking is kind of cool, too.
Just hope Yahoo doesn’t eventually mess it up. They ain’t Google. Lots of Yahoo services work poorly or not at all (Yahoo Video….).

First, I apologize for going nuclear with the spamming.
At your earliest convenience, please help me with a school project by participating in the following survey on blogging at http://www.stellarsurvey.com/response/s.aspx?u=6936.
I am writing a law review article on blogging and the role of blogs in the FCC media ownership debate, along with how blogs affect our conception of media and any correlation it may have to broadcasting. The personal background questions in the survey will provide insight into the demographics of bloggers and what the results might mean in relation to underrepresented groups or classes.
The survey is anonymous. The more participants the better, so if you’re feeling really nice, then please persuade everyone you know online to participate as well.
Thanks!

That is awesome.
That is awesome.
Flickr, to me, is one large portfolio centre. Much of the photography posted is better than commercially available options. I have hired 3 photographers on contract work through Flickr.

This is a great story. I wish my photos were picked up by the MTA.

Scoble, sorry to go off topic, but is it just me, or are your Scobleshow episodes not iPod compatible?
I’m subscribed to the feed in iTunes and they download in full, and they were compatible upto and including the photowalking episodes, but beyond that, they won’t sync.
Just wondering if you knew?
Paul

Reasons why I love Flickr:
1. Dead easy, even my non-techie Dad uses it in conjunction with his digital camera.
2. Awesome search. Has completely displaced Google images for me because Flickr searches give better results.
3. Image bandwidth is expensive, for $25/year it’s completely worth it for Flickr to host them for me.

It is simple amazing what the internet and Web 2.0 technology will acomplish - I have seen more photos that are absolutly breath taking with Flickr and Zoomer than I ever would at an art gallery.
