I’m gonna be in Seattle on October 5 and 6 and the new MindCamp party looks like a real interesting one. NASDAQ is sponsoring it and will give a talk on how to get your company ready for IPO. Is this bubble going to pull in retail investors again? Looks like it may.

Howdy,
The Thursday, Oct 5th event at Nectar Lounge in Fremont is our 5th Year Anniversary Party & Food Drive.
I pulled in Andru from Mindcamp/Gear Live, Steve Broback from BlogBusinessSummit.com and others to provide some rich content about blogging and new media.
Casual dress.
We have guest Eric Landheer from NASDAQ to talk briefly about setting your company from day one for a NASDAQ IPO and about the future market.
We have DJ Catherine Jade (NYC) and Dave Lipshin on eDrums cracking the beats, I may toss a plate on the decks as well.. http://www.electronicmusic.net/band/ .
Then after the talk show portion of the event, there will be a few bands and a CD release party, listed at http://www.nectarlounge.com
This is a chill environment. With Statup Prices on Happy Hour eats and drinks…
HAPPY HOUR 4-7
$1.50-2 PINTS
$4-6 PITCHERS
$3-4 APPETIZERS
$5 PIZZAS

Todd,
Andru Edwards here - primary Mind Camp organizer. We have only had two events, the original, and Seattle Mind Camp 2.0, which just about every attendee said blew the first one out of the water in terms of sheer creativity and freeflow form. Our intent is to make that even more apparent at 3.0 on November 11-12. Tickets are on sale now, and anyone can grab one here.
The event that Robert is talking about is our pre-Mind Camp party, titled Venture All Stars. This is more of a networking event with some cool talks - but it isn’t an unconference by any stretch of the imagination. Just a cool evening to meet local folks and hear from interesting people about new media, and multimedia on the Internet.
So, Robert, will you be at the actual 3.0 event?

The more organized they get, the less mind-campy it is. I attended the first one, but haven’t found any later ones as compelling as they get bigger, more expensive, and more organized.
I preferred the more freeform format. Anyhow, I’ll be attending a smaller meeting in Santa Cruz that weekend with a bunch of geeks in a whole other class.

So are you going to make it in November too?

Actually, the next Seattle MindCamp is on Nov. 11-12, in the same format and at the same great Delridge Avenue venue in West Seattle.
The October 5 event is billed as a pre-Mindcamp event. They were about full, and I suspect your post tipped them over: http://www.ventureallstars.com/

Yeah. And maybe we should do a guide for investors so that they can not get burned this time around.
