Hey, Dave, wanna go to the beach?
Maryam and I drove to the Half Moon Bay Ritz last night and we marveled at the lifestyle of sitting around a campfire with people from around the world. Then I remembered: we’re gonna live here in a few weeks (our new house is walking distance away).
Anyway, we’ll be in our new house by August 26th, why don’t we meet at the beach?
Oh, all the rest of you? You wanna come too?
Speaking of fun geek events, the Montana ”Off the Grid” campout on August 6-9 is definitely happening. So far about 30 people have said they are coming including several families. Now I gotta plan our day trips out.

Maybe now you can use one of those better pictures and update your log? The new Scoble looks trimmer and less dorky than the old Scoble!

Carolus, yeah, it’s time to do that for sure!

Sccoble,
I would have moved to Montana, but that’s just me. Get way from it all… as long as you have a high-speed connection, one can live and theoretically work anywhere. If I could, I would get off the IT rat-race grid permanently. I considering my options now.

Deke, sorry, there’s something about being in an area with lots of other geeks that energizes me and makes it easier to get things done. But Montana does have its attractions!

Watch out, Robert… that Coastside lifestyle will get to you. You’re sitting there, watching the waves, sipping cappuccinos, having great conversations with interesting people. Before you know it, a couple of years have gone by, and you haven’t touched a keyboard.
That’s how I left aerospace and started making Montara Magic chocolate sauces. But then I awoke, and started doing other things - though I never have left the ring of mushrooms that the coast can be.

Well unless something else comes up, sure, count me in
Aug 26th you said? When? Where?
Comment by RBA — July 16, 2006 @ 10:32 pm
RBA: at the Ritz! How about at 2 p.m.?

That’s the hotel from American Wedding, right? Nice.

I will put it on my calendar, since you will be my neighbor.
But HMB is far more soulful than the Ritz. With my cappucino, here in El Granada, often comes a guy who lives on a boat, or one who fishes for a living.
What’s interesting is how they all have wireless Internet on the boats :-)There’s lots more to see. And yes, you can live down here and be mesmerized by it, but I spend half the day online anyway, no matter where I am.

Gads!
Immediately after “Off the Grid” camping Tanja and I are headed to Michigan to visit family and shoot a vlogspot on organic weddings (…as opposed to inorganic weddings?).
Alas, even though it’s just a bridge away from home (Oakland), it looks like we’ll miss the beach party. If it goes well, perhaps it could be a semi-regular event?!
We could always gather around the oil drum fire near our barb-wire ringed artists’ live-work factory! All welcome.

How about doing something like this over the Labour Day weekend in September? Kind of an end-of-summer party.
