The ThoughtPlasma blog is celebrating the third birthday of Second Life. While we’re talking about it, I found Paul Marino’s Thinking Machinima blog. Really cool stuff, interesting videos. Machinima are videos that are recorded using avatars in Second Life and other software like Halo on Xbox. There’s a new art form taking shape here and it’s fascinating!

Oh, one that should get there? Grouper.com which just made it easier for bloggers to add video blog entries which includes their own videos.

Really great video content was just released by the TED conference. I’ve never been to this conference, but it has a huge reputation and if you look at the speakers you’ll see why. Hans Rosling, for instance, has an amazing data visualization talk. Tony Robbins is the world’s leading motivational speaker. I’m watching his talk right now. And those are just the first two I’ve watched.

I was just emailing with Tom Rielly who worked on this project. He said they reedited each talk using the feeds of all five cameras. They discovered that they needed a different editing style for small format video than if you are going to watch this on a huge screen. They also made it available to everyone in all formats, QT, Flash, Google Video, audio podcast on their site, iTunes, and others including on Podzinger.

He thanked BMW which, he says, gave them HUGE support (his emphasis, not mine). He says it was probably the largest underwriting of any podcast series ever.

Oh, and they put everything into Creative Commons. You can republish the talks on your own site!!! He specifically thanked June Cohen and Jason Wishnow, TED producer and editor.

This is awesome content. They dramatically raised the bar we’ll all need to meet with Internet video.

Update: Our real estate guy, Stan Mackey, wrote a nice blog post and my family room got on ValleyWag. Yeah, I have three Channel 9 guys on top of my HDTV. You can take Scoble out of Channel 9, but you can’t take Channel 9 out of Scoble!

Wow, even the Zillow blog noticed this post (Maryam used Zillow as one of the tools to find our new house in Half Moon Bay).

Here’s the video interview I did with the Sharepoint team where they showed off their new RSS feeds, blogs, and wiki features (and something that Dave Winer first showed me as part of Manila, a feature called “edit this page”).

When I joined Microsoft three years ago I never thought I’d see this day. At the end of the video we thank Dave Winer and Ward Cunningham.

The addition of these things into Sharepoint led David Berlind, in part, today to wonder if RSS is the new intranet protocol?

Keep in mind that Sharepoint is used by TONS of enterprises. This represents a sizeable shift in how enterprises will communicate internally.

Manuel Clement just emailed me this video post of his in the futureproducers forum. He shows how to use sequencing software to make a new kind of music. Wow, that’s cool.
