Going skiing today…

I’m going skiing today with the folks who planned the Lift conference (which was a lot of fun). Ellen Wallace said some nice things about my talk on her blog. I appreciate that. I probably won’t post much between now and Tuesday. I’ll be skiing today and tomorrow and not sure I’ll have access to the Internet (Laurent is kidnapping me and taking me to some chalet in the alps). On Monday I’ll be traveling back to Seattle most of the day.

Some real quick things. Toronto will get naked on March 6 (er, my coauthor is having a blogger dinner there).

One person I wanted to call out that I met this week is Steph Booth. She’s a seventh-grade teacher in Switzerland. Really cool person and opened my eyes to a lot of the European blogging community. She also taught me a lesson. Don’t get drunk with a model and let people take pictures! Yes, I’m gonna make you look for the good photos. Let’s just say that Thursday night was a little too much fun! She taught us how to do “ghost photography” too. It’s a wild world I’m in. Goof around, get Flickr’ed, and now everyone knows I played jedi with Hugh Macleod.

Transparency, is it a good thing when you’re partying? Hmmm.

  • Well, you've seen what half a glass of white wine can do to me -- imagine 109-year-old cognac! Less regrets, then, specially with all those geeks with cameras hanging around.
  • Steph: raclette was awesome. And the 109-year-old cognac was even better (Napoleon). Unbelieveable.
  • Well, I'm glad you were wearing your glasses through all of that black-light naughtiness.

You make me want to take up skiing again, but I'll just deal with high winds, power-outages, and the never-ending rainy-blustery chill back here.

I think this is the first time that I've seen Hugh instead of his work. I thought he'd look older. No good reason. Nice suits.
  • Then I'm really doubly jealous of your week-end -- no, triply: you get raclette!
  • Steph: we're above the cloud deck. It's weird. It's warmer up here than down there.
  • You're lucky then -- it's so cold here I almost came back home to put my ski pants on when I went out for a walk!
  • Steph: I borrowed some ski pants from Laurent. It's so warm up here, though, that I could have skiied just fine with jeans and a jacket.
  • So did you all bring your ski suits and stuff on the plane? Or are you just cold in your normal clothes?

Thanks for the kind words btw -- not sure exactly how I opened your eyes to a lot of the European blogging community, but glad you got something out of it!
  • I hear an echo here, that's for sure. I say something and snark always comes back! I'm gonna call it "snark 2.0." :-)
  • OK -- my confusion only -- the proposed dinner is the "night before" -- March 6. Sorry for the noise.
  • BTW -- it seems there is some confusion -- from what I can tellMarch 7 is the date that Shel is speaking in Toronto -- not March 6.
  • Christopher Coulter
Mighty big echo in that there chamber, boy...
  • Skiing isn't that hard. You can learn ;-)

Gosh I wish someone would kidnap me and take me to some chalet in the alps.

    How dramatic!

Then again, I can't ski even if my life depended on it so it's probably for the best.

    :-)
