that engadget thing is nifty…but check out the live coverage at http://www.gizmodo.com, the guy is totally ripping up jobs and macworld…very funny stuff (apple should host the oscars, apple will kill sepia tone etc)…but we all know the really BIG apple news: the apple ipod colostomy bag networked to a minimac that pulls in media and allows for photocasting of undigested corn.

…and then later jobs is gonna announce that they’re actually selling smalltalk this coming year.

hey, I think I called the podcasting upgrades in an earlier comment thread here. I thought they would be included in iTunes instead of Garageband though. Close counts doesn it?

iMac Intel Core Duo and MacBook Pro….predictable, as usual. But impressive nevertheless. I hope the Intel jump increases their marketshare to 30%, being that they aren’t going licencing or the OEM model. Dream world tho, but this is major a kick up.

PS - Also you saw Moore waffle-wavering on HD-DVD, saying Blu-Ray possible? Heh.

30% marketshare with a $2,000 PC? You’ve gotta be kidding, right? My son is sad cause I sure won’t buy him a $2,000 one. Not when a really killer IBM/Lenovo laptop is about $1,000.

Dude, check out their numbers of desktop/notebooks sold - quarter after quarter for the last year, for example (and that’s an obsolete hardware). I wouldn’t be surprised with 20% estimate. Not to mention that the hate against MS is on all times high.
You lost media war in a big way and now they are moving to PC arena with challenging offerings. They are not going to kill you but you will be bleeding and it will hurt. I’m sorry.
And they haven’t started their real move to a phone arena.

That was a WISH…a dream. Not that they will make it, as they need to kick to Toshiba, Sony, HP, Dell, White Box and all that. OEMs would KILL to do OSX. But Apple won’t. And when they did that last time, they changed minds and bankrupted the people behind it.

They could get 20-30% marketshare in 5 years with a real decent strategy, instead of the overpriced ‘style over substance’ kick, tho at least now not underpowered.

You can have beige boxes for the corporates running OSX, and then standard boring but decent priced consumer units, high flair gamer Alienware-like Macs, and the pretty spacey-slick design units for the black-turtle-necked rattail Starbucks Yuppie Photoshopheads. Instead Steve Jobs gives us a menu with ONE meal. Wasted opportunity, Microsoft is darned lucky their competitors are so inept.
