Tool to compare MSN Search to Google

David Coe has released a Web site that lets you do one search on both MSN and Google and talks about it on his blog. Good way to compare the two.

    Tried it… neat! These days, I always seem to find better results on MSN Search than on Google. I don’t use Yahoo! for search at all.

    in my opinion I say 80% of your posts are useless to me, the same stuff over and over and not real opinion or thought..I like how you only mentioned the Xbox and not the PS3 or Nintendo..

    Thanks — I was easily able to reconfirm why I use Google. On my sample of 10 queries (5 common, 5 obscure), MSN was still lame in 8 of 10, and in the neighborhood for 2.

    feedfarmer: yeah, that matches my results, although on mine 20% are better on MSN. That’s a sizeable shift from a year ago when none were.

    not really, I hope blogging goes away because its a bit boring and just basically is a overrated journal. the blogs like Sun’s CEO don’t let you to comment because of sheer fear. you don’t get unique conversations with the important people just the same PR rhetoric. I see you don’t have a business perspective. I wish ABC or NBC would say “don’t like our shows? don’t watch”. yeahh real smart.

    I switched from Google Desktop to MSN Search Desktop recently only because MSN would index my OneNote files, which is critical for me. But I don’t think MSN does as good of a job with everything as it seemed that Google does. But then I realized that on my desktop, neither can work like they do on the web, because there are no links, no way to do Page Rank. So I don’t understand what’s inside the black box here. I also realize that being a desktop, this is only tangentially related to the web search comparison…but that’s the burr under my saddle.

    I don’t know where you think it’s YOUR BLOG. your material comes from you working at Microsoft and having the inside scoop and well MS thinks of you as a PR person. It might be your blog but I bet MS has restrictions on what you can post and can’t…. same way you couldn’t post about Vista unless they said.
