The Podcast Network interviews me

I’m on lots of podcasts. I figure that instead of doing my own podcast I’ll just go on other people’s podcasts and help them out. Here Richard Giles interviews me for the Gadget Show on the Podcast Network. These guys are smooth. It’s so amazing that we can do this. I’m using Skype. Richard is thousands of miles away. I’m using nothing more than my Tablet PC (Toshiba M4).

This interview focused on corporate blogging and I gave some tips for people who are thinking about starting a corporate blog.

We also talk at length about HDTV. I’m doing a lot of thinking about how that will change the world. I predict that 2006 is going to be the “year of HDTV.”

    I don’t think 2006 will be the year of the HDTV, I think 2007 will be that year.

    2006 will be interesting to say the least. Next gen consoles and all that jazz.

    How exactly will HDTV change the world?

    Freely available web applications that provide unprecedented access to information all across the globe? Sure, that’s the sort of thing that can have a worldwide effect, but an incremental A/V upgrade? If you mean what you say I’d like to hear your reasoning.

    I’m not trying to nitpick or anything, that just seems like very out of place thing to say.

    Peter: everyone who gets an HDTV says it totally changes their viewing habits. And with things like HD Tivo, HD Media Center, HD Xbox 360 coming, there are lots of impacts on home entertainment.

    Plus, now that the screen is sharp enough you can really do some interesting new kinds of TV applications.

    Not to mention there’s a few other things coming.

    Ok, I can sort-of see this, as it allows more readable text and opens up possibilities there, but HDTV seems very minor in comparison to the other things that you talk about here. A major shift in the way software is written, deployed, used, and made available seems to be several orders of magnitude more significant.
