Maryam, my wife, posts about things she’s learned from the CEOs in her life. I wish I had had a chance to meet her dad (he was a CEO of a phone company in Iran and gave up his post to protect his employees — that’s leadership and courage that I hope I’ll have if the time ever comes).

Hey jus getting personal !! U have not met your father-in-law yet ?? Tsk tsk… If hoder can make it in and out of iran , I don’t see why you can’t take the time (and make) the time to go with maryam for a visit to iran??
People may be smart, but very few people understand family comes first

Um, her dad isn’t alive anymore so it’d be pretty difficult for me to meet him.

Anyone who uses the word “fear” as a serious component of their leadership style knows nothing about leadership.
Fear does not foster respect, or teamwork. Fear only fosters resentment, and eventually hatred. Fear makes trust impossible, and ensures you never know what the people you lead truly think. Fear ensures that no one under you will ever take a risk, or challenge an idea of yours.
Using fear is the hallmark of a tool, not a leader.

Good thing she never met ‘Mr. Potter’, Jeffrey Skilling, Richard Grasso, Ken Lay, Bernard Ebbers, L. Dennis Kozlowski, Samuel D. Waksal and then the nearly 1,500+ dot.com CEOs (circa 1997-2002).
