Xbox maker acknowledges consoles interfering with Wal-Mart’s internal management systems; says fix is in the works.
Hahhahahaha, I freaking SWEAR Microsoft is so entertaining. Hahhaha. Always some flub, always some ‘egg on face’. You just can even make stuff up this good. DO YOU THINK MAYBE THEY COULD HAVE BETA TESTED IT IN A FEW STORES, MAYBE? :) Heavy PR all blaming WalMart for not being fully FCC’ed, with friends like that. Dang.
“[UPDATE] After this story went live, a Wal-Mart rep communicated with GameSpot, stating the glitch had affected only those Wal-Mart stores with older inventory systems in place. New Wal-Mart stores were not affected. The rep said the number of stores with Xbox 360 kiosks currently stands at 600. The company hopes to have kiosks in 1,200 stores by the first week of November; by mid-November, all Wal-Mart stores should have Xbox 360 kiosks.”
Hahaha, the spin begins. Trainwreck no matter how you slice it. 2.4 RF messing with Symbol and Walmart’s SMART system supposedly. Microsoft “fesses up”, says fix forthcoming. Then proxy fall-guy Walmart takes on chin saying “older systems”. And the PR machine goes into high gear, trying to tell wireless unhip consumers such won’t happen at home. What a mess. Store Handhelds, Video Game systems, Photo Lab and Cash Registers, 2.4 wiping out the world…where is the freaking FCC? And faraday cage anyone? Also beta test, heard of that? Still not totally sure of the real story, but it wouldn’t be Microsoft without some big PR nightmare right before a Launch.
Well see I tried, but nothing in this area, I guess this big city locational zone is one of the late Nov updaters . And it’s not crack pipey to laugh at the quite funny MFST PR firestorms. :) And you do a representive beta test, not every store. And regardless of ‘how fast they fix the bugs’, too delicious for words for Walmart to pull all Xboxes, launch interrupted. This is basic stuffs, you test every scenario, just seems a serious oversight, but maybe in the mad rush, balls get dropped.
The final console is done. But even Wal-mart said that the some stores had a different network set up. So, now you would have to go to 2 stores. What about EB now…or, the 3 in the mall by my house. They could all be in a different location.
This is a home console. The scenario you test is “does it affect any network in the house?” And outside of the usual problems (like a 2.4 ghz router being interferred by with the 2.4 ghz phone, or the microwave), they are perfect. It will not affect ANY of that stuff.

This is only the beginning. They will be launching the new Xbox.com forums (Official Xbox.com forums) later this week/early next week.
We will have even more features, and then when the console releases, the media rich environment that is Xbox.com will increase even more.
I cant wait for my new forums (I am an Xbox.com MVP and Moderator :) )

Now all they have to do is make Xbox 360 connection software for Mac users and I’ll get one. My PSP works with my mac but will the Xbox 360?

Also note that Microsoft has said that the “interference” will not occur in a regular home network.

Chris, they are beta testing the console. It is an internal test with the Xbox team.
You can not go into EVERY store that the kiosks are going to be in to test them. That is just unrealistic.

Please put down the crack pipe, Christopher. Within 24 hours of hearing of it, Microsoft created a patch which is being implemented.
You should stop by a WalMart in your area and check out the new console. It’s awsome - you might like it. I am totally serious.

Neta testing the console? I meant ‘beta testing’ the locational setting. If this close to launch and still beta testing the console, ouch. ;)
