Microsoft Research works on including more people in digital world

Kevin Schofield, who works in Microsoft Research, writes today about efforts they are making to attack the digital divide, particularly in emerging markets.

    Yeah, efforts to attack the digital divide by charging people for an operating system and products when they can barely afford necessities and there are tons of viable, free alternatives available.

    This isn’t a humanitarian effort. This is a power-grab for future customers. Which isn’t a bad thing, at all. Except when it’s masked as some kind of chivalrous mission.
